Baha Na Naman!!

Baha Na Naman (It's Flooded Again)!!!

Its Saturday July 21, 2012 and as early as 6 in the morning Flood waters rose too fast in the streets & leaks on the roof caused by clogged roof gutters caused our misery, GRRRR! I woke up with heavy rains pouring like hell and what a surprise! Flood waters seeping into our house & leaking rain water in one of the rooms being like a bathroom shower full blast! Argh !!! All hands on deck. Everyone in the house tried to control  the damage,  I did my part, grab the ladder and went to the roof. I was shock to see all the rain gutters overflowing and saw the drain clogged with dried leaves from the neighbor's tree (Kalilinis ko lang nito a few weeks ago ngayon barado na naman!?!?!?! Itapon ko kaya sa garden nila ito??? ).

The leaks stopped but then I had to remove the clogged in the outlet going to the street drainage which means I have to wade through the flood :( well I have no choice or the house will get flooded.   I removed  debris upon debris of plastic bags, styropor cups and other what have you trash from rodents  and neighbors I guess, who else?  Its more Fun (Flood) in the Philippines!

After that dilemma, I went to work and  thought I can drive to the office smoothly with a little flooding on the way to Makati City which would usually take less than an hour on a Saturday morning. But I was in for a big surprise.

The main intersection of Gil Puyat Ave. & South Super Highway are flooded and traffic was terrible. We tried to weaved our way out of this traffic mess &  avoid the floods but to no avail. We got stuck for almost 3 hours.

Manila City Hall Tower Clocks

As I drove  passed Manila City Hall early this afternoon, I suddenly noticed the imposing Tower Clocks. One would wonder the majestic view from the top and it being a silent witness to the countless historical events that happened before.

To be continued..........

Dolphy's Wake and Burial one Sunny Sunday Afternoon

The wake and burial took place at the Heritage Park with nothing untoward incident happened except for the attention grabbing spineless monster mom " Anabelle Rama " berated and threatened (with a microphone stand, how violent can you get during a funeral wake!?!?!?)  a Movie Reporter whom she mentioned wrote negative articles against here children just a few days before the burial of the Comedy King.

Well it only shows how unmindful she is to the solemnity of the wake, with "Heaven may care what happens next I'm on a warpath attitude".

Anyway as expected, thousands of People flocked to Heritage Park to pay their last respect to the Comedy King and to seeand take photo's of other movie and political personalities present during the wake & burial.

At around 1:45pm July 15, 2012 the King of Philippine Comedy Rodolfo Vera Quizon Sr. was laid to rest in a solemn funeral fit for a King. A few days short from his 84th Birthday.

Dolphy's demise one rainy evening in July

Taken from Philippine Daily Inquirer website dated July 10, 2012
MANILA, Philippines— Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon died due to multiple organ failure, the Makati Medical Center, where the King of Comedy had been confined since June 9, announced.
“We would like to inform the public that Mr. Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon, passed away today, at 2034H (8:34 p.m.) due to multiple organ failure, secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure,” the hospital said in a statement.
“We join the entire Filipino Community in praying for the soul of Mr. Quizon and his dearly beloved family and friends,” it said.
“To the Quizon Family, we extend our deepest condolences.”
As I was driving on a rainy flooded street going to my High School Alma mater for a alumni event last night, I heard it on the radio, the passing away of the Philippine King of Comedy. Memory flashed into me as I vividly remember watching the TV sitcom John N Marsha during the 70's & 80's. Plus the countless comedy films & TV reruns being shown during those dark days of Martial Law.

Who would ever forget the famous line of John Puruntong's Monster este Mother-in-law Donya Delilah's "Kaya Ikaw John Magsumikap Ka!!!

It reflects the typical Pinoy Family during that era wherein humor is part & parcel of everyday life. As the saying goes "Laughter is the Best Medicine".

There are countless video's uploaded in Youtube one can enjoy viewing like this scene from the movie "Haw Haw De Karabaw" with his long time movie partner Panchito (RIP) & Minyong Villegas.

It was also worth noting that during the 90's he was asked to run for public office but he declined . (Credit goes to Al Roque's photo posted in Facebook).

RIP Comedy King of Philippine Cinema, as I quote his son Eric Quizon "Comedy is Dead, Long Live Comedy!"

Its 4 AM and I'm up early, preparing for an early bike ride later, hoping for a Sunny morning as no Storm weather disturbance is reported for the next 24 hours. "Sana wala muna ulan at baha :D " (hope there would be no rain & flood).

Potholes all over Metro Manila.
As usual after rains & the floods have all receded, Metro Manila is left with moon craters(potholes) & open manholes which cause accidents and heavy traffic.

Driving around the metropolis is like a video game, one needs to avoid all the obstacles ahead. Maybe I need to write another blog on this topic  "How to survive Metro Manila Traffic".  (Please see the the photo below).

Flood alert for Metro Manila, nearby areas

Flood alert for Metro Manila, nearby areas Just saw the Rappler website & its a great help. Have satellite map locations of flooded areas. I've hear NOAH(Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards) Website is up & running which is also very helpful in avoiding flooded areas & flood warnings to affected areas. Hope the LGU's use this to their advantage & not wait for announcements from PAG-ASA or other Gov't Agencies, they should act on their own initiative.

The rains for the last few days have caused so many accidents, just like the one that happened last July 4 where in a Aircon Passenger Bus rammed the railings of the EDSA Flyover & the front part was dangling from it. Major injuries were reported, as usual the road was slippery plus the bus driver was texting while driving at high speed.

Another great site for Philippine storm warning is http://www.typhoon2000.ph/ "The Philippines First Website on  Tropical Cyclone. Anyway hoping for a Sunny Weekend ahead.

Sounding like a news commentator?!?! Well I'm just being concerned with the situation.

Trivia : what's with the man doing inside the jeepney?

a) He has no money to pay for the fare so he has no right to take a  seat?

b) Can't get off the street because its flooded?

c) He's the driver & stopped the jeepney besides the tricycle parking station & waiting for the flood to subside?

The answer : is letter C. He's the driver!

July 3 Floods, traffic, disaster & death

It started as a light drizzle in the very early morning then continous downpour. As usual the local gov't. delayed suspension of classes caused more problems to the students & parents alike. Good thing my kids got back home safely from school.

Well its all work for me despite the bad weather, floods & traffic, even had a chance to go to downtown Manila late in the morning to do some business & visit some of our suppliers. Well part of it is wading through the flood & clinging for dear life at the nearest lamp post as jeepneys, trucks & other types of vehicles passed by & praying not be swept away by waves or falling down a open manhole (cover was stolen again & sold at the nearest junk shop by you know who @&$@$@!!!). Well life must go on so to speak. Good thing I got back at the office in one piece. Except for my water damage sneakers & soiled pants I'm still ok, even got my self a waterproof flashlight at dirt cheap price earlier, hope it works fine hehehe plus had stock up on food & water in my car for the rainy days ahead.

On a sour note, death occurred in Valenzuela City, as hapless victims were crushed by landslide as their dwellings was located at a former adobe quarrying site. Anyway another disaster in the making. Waters were released from nearby dams threatening nearby areas of Bulacan, Quezon city, Malabon & Navotas. Anyway praying & hoping the rains would stop soon.

Floating Taxi anyone? Wanted Driver, the last one just swam away for good!

It's More Fun (err there's more Floods) in the Philippines!!!
